BV Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2006
Wine Enthusiast: Rated as Excellent, extremely well made and highly recommended. "No one else in Napa Valley could produce a Cabernet of this pedigree, at this price, besides Beaulieu. They bring their century of experience, as well as their vineyards, to produce this fine, dry wine. It reeks of classicism, from the purity of structure to the refined, Bordeaux-like black currant and cedar flavors. An amazing accomplishment." Dec 2009
Winery: "The symphony of aromas and flavors in our 2006 Beaulieu Vineyard Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon comes from vineyards located in diverse regions of the valley. With each swirl and sip, velvety layers of blackberry, ripe Santa Rosa plum, chocolate, violet and mineral are revealed. Each vineyard's clone, soil mesoclimate, exposure and cultivation techniques contributed to the wine's complex fruit expression, while barrel aging added soft oak nuances." Wired For Wine: This gorgeous, full-bodied BV Napa Cabernet is made for robust dishes made with lamb, meats and some game. Our first choice with this archetypal Napa Cab is Moroccan slow-cooked lamb and couscous flavored with chopped mint, slivered almonds and lemon zest. Another option is a rich platter of osso buco. The robust sauce will pick up on the cedar and oak notes in this refined bottle from BV. On the simpler side, grill up some filet mignons, and just when you plate them, top with a generous spoonful of Roquefort and 2-3 twists of freshly ground pepper. Heaven by way of Napa Valley. As a last course, the BV Napa Cab pairs famously with an American Tarentaise cheese. It's a deeply complex cow's milk cheese which has been aged to perfection and will send everyone home happy. Or, pour another glass and enjoy it with a sumptuous dark chocolate pudding. You won't need much else except for a dollop of whipped cream...
