Byron Santa Barbara Chardonnay 2009
Winery: "The 2009 vintage was relatively dry, warm and trouble free giving us a wine that is pure, balanced and generous. The nose is packed with stone fruit, fig, honey, spice and red apples. The palate is both crisp and concentrated with a mineral finish."
Wired For Wine: Whether or not the sun comes out, it's always a good day for a luscious Chardonnay. This Byron Santa Barbara Chardonnay is bright, concentrated and beautifully balanced. Have a glass with smokey corn and tomato bruschettas and you'll be hooked. The pure fruit, hint of sweet oak and minerals, and rich mouthfeel of this Calfornia white are delectable with chicken, anything that lives in water, veal and more. The crisp side of this Chardonnay is great with butter and cream, so we suggest seared scallops with a buttery ginger-lime sauce. If you're in the mood for simply delicious, then make it tarragon chicken with lemony salt-roasted potatoes. But if fancy is on the menu, then it has to be a creamy lobster curry over fluffy jasmine rice. How will you ever decide? Once you have, and the meal is coming to a close, open another bottle and serve it with a sinfully decadent triple-cream Mt. Tam cheese from the Cowgirl Creamery. It's smooth, elegant and evocative of a gentle mushroomy earthiness. When do we eat??!
