Carta Vieja Reserva Limited Release Malbec 2007
Winery: "Attractive and deep intense red colour with smooth violet tints. Prunes and cerise (cherry) aromas are distinguished, mixed with delicate roasted notes from its aging in barrels. On the palate is silky, with tannins well condensated appearing notes of chocolate, blackberries and tobacco. Its equilibrium and acidity balance give to this wine a big persistence."
Wired For Wine: ¡Caray! Or, wow! That's what we said when we tasted the ripe, dark fruit, and compact tannins which then led us happily to the long, silky finish of the Carta Vieja Reserva Limited Release Malbec. Since the early 19th century, seven generations of the Pedegral family have been hard at work to bring us a beautifully balanced Malbec. We sincerely appreciate the effort... On top of the deep, intense character is the fact that this Carta Vieja is a terrific value. It pairs beautifully with lamb and other meats, especially when grilled. It will start off the meal nicely with antipasti and tapas alike. Your choice to pour it with pancetta and salami, or Iberian jamon... Or, have a glass with some addictive, salty Marcona almonds as you plan your meal. The rich texture of the Carta Vieja Malbec will show off a sizzling platter of beef fajitas or steak grilled your favorite way like a pro. If you're in the mood for pasta, ravioli with meat sauce will surely satisfy. To partner the condensed tannins of this Chilean Malbec, we suggest a not-too-spicy lamb curry. On the lighter, meat-free side, putting a glass of this attractive red next to a mushroom pizza will not disappoint either. ¡Qué delicia! We're thinking a chocolate molten dessert to go with that last glass or two. Your thoughts?
