Cavallotto Dolcetto D'Alba Vigna Scot 2009
Robert Parker, Jr.-The Wine Advocate: Rated as An outstanding wine of exceptional complexity and character. "The 2009 Dolcetto d-Alba Vigna Scot flows with gorgeous dark fruit, licorice and underbrush. As always, this is a beautiful, supple Dolcetto with superb purity in its fruit, beautifully articulated aromatics and terrific overall balance. It is highly recommended. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2014.
It's tough to go wrong with pretty much anything from Cavallotto these days. The estate's entry-level wines offer nearly as much pleasure as the higher-end wines, but at far more soothing prices." Dec 2010 Winery: "Ruby red at the core with intense purple reflections, this Dolcetto is intense and fruity on the nose, with delicious aromas of wild berries, cherries, red apple, and a slight bitter almond note. Dry and full-bodied on the palate, the Vigna Scot is warm and soft in the mouth, delightfully well balanced." Wired For Wine: Come and meet our delicious Italian find of the day, this Cavallotto Dolcetto D'Alba Vigna Scot. Beh ciao là ... Open your first intense bottle and enjoy it with antipasti of artichokes, salami and olives. That ought to get the ball rolling. This Cavallotto has amazing, lovely dark fruit, earthy undertones, clean purity and beautiful balance, making it ideal with meats, simple pastas, chicken and lots more. We love its fruit and suggestion of spice with chicken cooked with tomatoes and prunes. If you're in the mood for pasta, look no further. We recommend agnolotti with sweet peas and goat cheese. And finally, if you're looking for the wow factor, we love this Vigna Scot with roasted rack of pork with morel mushroom pan sauce. Don't burn your tongues on the pan!! Break out at least one more bottle and cap off the evening with a smooth Piedmontese Robiola Rocchetta cheese. It's dense and creamy, and will take instantly to this Italian red.
