Ceretto Blange Langhe Arneis White 2010

Ceretto Blange Langhe Arneis White 2010

  • Wine & Spirits 93
Wine & Spirits:  Rated as Exceptional examples of their type. "Fresh scents of apple blossom honey and beeswax add to the almond richness of this Arneis. It’s as smooth as a round riverstone, clean and fragrant. The finish is distinctly Piedmontese in its earthiness; to match braised chicken or a rich fish stew." Dec 2011

Winery:  "Arneis is a native varietal producing a very fruity wine with hints of pear and apple. Its fragrance and flavor are also enhanced by the small amount of CO2 maintained from the fermentation, which also helps to make up for the varietal’s typically low acidity."

Fun Fact: "The name Blangé is derived from the word “boulanger,” or baker, from the French residing in the nearby village of Cherasco long ago. E voilà, pure and simple, beginning from its bold label, created by Milanese designer Silvio Coppola, designed to reveal, as through a seductive slit, the intense soul of Blangè."

Wired For Wine:  "Smooth, clean, fragrant and earthy". From Piedmont, we bring you this crisp, super-sippable Ceretto Blangè Langhe Arneis to help with this image of spring as you close your eyes. Be sure they're open when the first bottle is poured, and the platter of pork and shrimp potstickers are put on the table... The wonderful fruit and frangrance of this Ceretto is perfect opposite the slight tang in the dipping sauce. Cubes of ripe canteloupe melon wrapped in thin-sliced prosciutto will delight as well. This Blangè Langhe pairs beautifully with everything from light pastas to chicken to seafood. A big plate of steaming linguine with a basil, gorgonzola and walnut pesto is fantastic for the earthy side of this Piedmontese prince.  Herb-grilled salmon with fresh tomato-orange chutney will evoke some of its fruit.  Very comforting and delicious is braised chicken with a mustard-tarragon sauce. Che cosa volete winelovers? Open another bottle and then decide if it's to be sweet or savory.  We suggest a rustic pear and apple crostata to entice you down the sweet road.  For the savory crowd, make it your favorite goat cheese. La vita è breve! Beva il vostro Arneis!
