Chateau Greysac Medoc Cru Bourgeois Superieur 2005

  • Wine Spectator 89
  • 2005 Bordeaux Vintage Rating
  • Robert Parker, Jr. 95-99
Wine Spectator:  Rated as Very good - a wine with special qualities.   "Has a very pretty nose of Indian spices, currant and Christmas pudding. Full-bodied, with soft tannins and a long, caressing finish."

Robert Parker, Jr. rated the 2005 Bordeaux vintage overall as Outstanding - Extraordinary.  "2005 is the finest vintage for these wines since 1982. Given the style of the vintage, most of these wines should be accessible young yet evolve for a decade or more because of their concentration and tannic structure.   I have never tasted so many extraordinarily rich, concentrated, massive wines so high in tannin and extract, yet with such precision, definition, and freshness. It is clearly a singular vintage that should evolve into one of the great vintages of Bordeaux."

Winery:  "The characteristic style of Greysac is one of great aromatic finesse combined with good, full body. This complementarity produces wines with straightforward, clean flavours and sumptuous fruit which acquire elegance and complexity over time."

Wired For Wine: This 2005 Bordeaux is just the ticket for lamb and other red meats.  It balances a hardy meal beautifully, so call some friends and roast a delicious leg of lamb.  Serve it with sinful potato gratin made with Parmesan and Gruyère.  A simple sautéd spinach will round out the meal nicely.  Can't wait for a leg of lamb to roast?  How about a juicy porterhouse done to your liking on the grill with the same sides?  Make my 12oz!
