Chateau Larrivet Haut-Brion Blanc 2005
Wine Enthusiast: Rated as Excellent, extremely well made and highly recommended. "Barrel sample. Attractive rosemary and thyme aromas lead to a very fresh wine with a herbal element. Excellent, with delicious fruit." Jun 2006
Robert Parker, Jr.-Wine Advocate: Rated as An outstanding wine of exceptional complexity and character. "2005 is an excellent vintage possessing high acidity as well as impressive levels of weight, richness, and texture." Apr 2007 Neal Martin of Wine Advocate: Rated as An outstanding wine of exceptional complexity and character. "Tasted single blind at Southwold. This is endowed with an exotic bouquet with touches of guava, passion fruit and white peach. Moderate definition – perhaps just a little fluffy. The palate is well balanced with quite a lot of oak, though it is well integrated. Touches of white peach and apricot, with a more oxidative finish. Intriguing, aromatic – Bordeaux with a hint of Condrieu? Drink now-2013." Jan 2009. Winery: "Concentrated, golden yellow colour. Ripe fruit aromas with hints of mushroom. Round, rich, and concentrated on the palate with candied lemon and yellow fruit flavours. Very long, oaky, caramelised aftertaste." Wired For Wine: There is nothing like a delicious white Bordeaux. Allow us to introduce you to the Chateau Larrivet Haut-Brion Pessac-Leognan. You will be très enchanté with its magical blend of fresh concentration, herbal and exotic as well as citrus fruit notes, perfect acidity and well-integrated oak. Pour your first cool glasses and enjoy them with Thai chicken satay strips and peanut sauce. The coconut milk in the sauce will draw out the hints of guava and passion fruit, and the yummy oak in this Larrivet Haut-Brion. This wine is a classic Grand Vin de Graves so we recommend the classic food route. Duck, fish, seafood and goose will all work beautifully with this well-balanced white. If you're feeling fancy, the lovely weight and texture and the earthy side of this Pessac-Leognan will be fantastic with foie gras. We love it seared over a brioche toast, drizzled with a balsamic, cherry sauce. Duck à l’orange will allow you to stay in that same fancy vein, and access the golden yellow citrus notes of this wine. Finally, lobster or scallops your favorite way will not disappoint either. To round off the meal, we suggest a creamy chunk of French Boucheron goat cheese with that last bottle. Comment c'est formidable, winelovers! Size: 750ml Varietal: Graves Alcohol: 14.5% Region: Pessac-Leognan, Bordeaux, France
