Chateau Lyonnat Cuvee Emotion Lussac St. Emilion 2009

Chateau Lyonnat Cuvee Emotion Lussac St. Emilion 2009

  • Wine Spectator 92-95*
James Suckling for Wine Spectator:  Rated as Outstanding: a wine of superior character and style - Classic: a great wine. "Coffee and ripe plum, with hints of prune on the nose. Full-bodied, with beautiful fruit and supersilky tannins. Long and gorgeous. Best ever from here. Score range: 92-95." Web only 2010*

Robert Parker, Jr. on the 2009 Bordeaux vintage: "I hope readers will take a serious look at many of the less prestigious appellations and wines from those areas as they will no doubt represent fabulous bargains in 2009. Given the overall style of the 2009s, which combine creamy, voluptuous textures and sensational fruit-driven opulence with remarkable finesse, precision, purity, and vibrancy, the best of the “little” wines will be delicious young, as will many of the classified-growths. This is a magical vintage! " ~ Robert Parker

Winery:  "The colour is intense, almost black. The nose is powerful, black currant, blackberry, with toasted notes and leather. The palate is complex, powerful, very fruity with full and lush tannins."

Wired For Wine:  Bordeaux. French, iconic, often times blow-your-mind delicious. And, Robert Parker, Jr. refers to 2009 as "a magical vintage".  Without further ado we bring you the Château Lyonnat Cuvée Emotion Lussac St. Émilion. James Suckling refers to this particular wine as the "best ever from here". Drop everything, winelovers, and get your French on.  Decant your first bottle and then offer generous glasses with a rabbit terrine studded with green olives and pistachios. Stupéfaction. The complex, full body, "supersilky" tannins, ripe, dark fruit and earthy notes of coffee, leather and toast make this St. Émilion the perfect choice with meaty fare such as lamb, beef, and game.  Get those creative juices flowing... If you're feeling decadent, set a spectacular table, insist everyone speak only French, and serve this Cuvée Emotion with beef tenderloin accompanied by a red wine and marrow sauce.  Pan-roasted lamb with a cherry tomato and spinach tart will melt your cares away. A lovely nod to the fruit in this Lyonnat could be crisp-roasted duck with a honey lavender glaze. While all of the dining has been going on, you should have had another bottle or two resting in the decanter.  It will come in handy when you serve your last course of room temperature Roquefort cheese.  This is one Emotion you won't want to control winelovers!!
