Enrique Foster Reserva Malbec 2006

Enrique Foster Reserva Malbec 2006

  • Robert Parker, Jr 90
Robert Parker, Jr., The Wine Advocate:  Rated as An outstanding wine of exceptional complexity and character.  "The 2006 Reserva Malbec is a blend of two vineyards, 53 years and 90 years old respectively. It spent 12 months in 40% new French oak. Purple-colored.  It displays an expressive perfume of balsam wood, underbrush, spice box, and black cherry. Smooth-textured and suave on the palate, it has loads of savory black fruit and spice notes, excellent concentration, and a lengthy, fruit-filled finish." Aug 2009

Winery:  "This is a huge wine, deep red violet with dark fruit aromas, and firm structure. It has a full-bodied, long finish.  Estate grown and bottled 100 percent Malbec made of selected grapes from old vines with a production limited to 85 quintals per hectare. After a rigorous selection, the grapes are fermented for nine days in small, temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. As a final point, this wine is aged in our underground cellars for 12 months in French oak barrels, and nine months in the bottle."

Wired For Wine:   This estate grown and bottled Malbec would be an great choice for your richly spiced dishes, roast or grilled meats, tuna, and salmon.  Since we're talking Argentina, how about grilling some lamb chops or a NY Strip on the ol' asado.  Carmelize some shallots to accompany either of these along with oven roasted potatoes tossed with some olive oil, sea salt and some fresh herbs.  Download some songs of Eduardo Falú and you'll swear you're in Buenos Aires.  Vamos!
