Glen Carlou Grand Classique Meritage 2005
Wine Spectator Magazine: Rated as "Outstanding - a wine of superior character and style" and designated as a "Smart Buy".
"A dark, winey version, with solid grip to the macerated black currant, fig sauce and espresso notes that pump through the finish.... Rock-solid. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2011. 2,500 cases imported." Wine Spectator Magazine, May, 2009 Winery: "This wine is a unique blend of classic red cultivars. Two years maturation in new and second-fill French oak barriques followed by minimal fining has produced a great wine with excellent potential for maturation. Colour: Brilliant ruby red with a purple rim. Aroma: Dark berry fruit and Christmas cake with some cedar wood undertones and cinnamon. Flavour: Very round and soft with nice ripe tannins, some liquorice and cured cherries. Finish: Mouth feel very long and elegant with a nice creamy chocolate flavour." Size: 750 ml Varietal: 41% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot, 6% Malbec, 5% Cabernet Franc Alcohol: 14.0% Vintage: 2005 Region: Paarl, Western Cape, South Africa |
