Grandes Beso de Vino Seleccion 2009
Robert Parker, Jr.-The Wine Advocate: Rated as An outstanding wine of exceptional complexity and character. "The 2009 Beso de Vino Selección is a blend of 85% Syrah and 15% Garnacha aged for 3 months in French oak. Black cherry and blueberry aromas lead to a dense, plush, savory wine which finishes with no hard edges. It is shockingly good for the money. Grandes Vinos y Vinedos’ collection is replete with stunning values." Apr 2010
Wired For Wine: We couldn't agree more with The Wine Advocate's Jay Miller that this Beso de Vino Selección is "shockingly good for the money". And how cute is the cow?? This spectacular Spanish red has a rock solid value price allowing it to deliver on all fronts. Enough chatting; start pouring. Your first glass will inspire murmurs of delight if you serve it with a big platter of sticky, tangy Asian ribs. The tang of their sauce next tot he rich, dark fruit of the Beso is heavenly together. If you prefer to go native, make it mushroom and serrano ham brochettes with a silky garlic mayonnaise for dipping - just like in the tapas restaurants. Moving on to the main event, that same rich fruit, and the dense, smooth nature of this Syrah/Garnacha blend make it perfect for many meats ranging from beef, lamb and venison to duck, barbecued pork, and even some heartier preparations of tuna and salmon. We love this tasty red with Majorcan lamb and sausage pie, as well as Spanish-style oxtails braised with chorizo. The smokiness and bite of the chorizo is perfect with the ripe fruit of the wine. Little squares of a good Pecorino are just the excuse to open another bottle. Beso de Vino means 'wine kiss' by the way. You'll want lots of these kisses, winelovers!! Size: 750ml; screw cap Varietal: 85% Syrah, 15% Garnacha Alcohol: 13.5% Ageing: 3 months in French oak barrels Region: Cariñena, Aragón, Spain |
