Martin Cendoya Reserva Rioja 2006
Robert Parker, Jr.-The Wine Advocate: Rated as An outstanding wine of exceptional complexity and character. "Heredad Ugarte’s 2006 Martin Cendoya Seleccion Reserva is a blend of 80% Tempranillo, 15% Graciano, and 5% Mazuelo sourced from 100+ year old vines and aged in oak for 14 months. It reveals an alluring nose of lavender, incense, smoke, mineral, and black cherry. On the palate it is layered, opulent, and satin-textured with enough underlying structure to evolve for another 3-5 years. This impeccably balanced wine will be at its best from 2013 to 2026." Winery: "Nose: Expressive, lively fragrances. Palate: Excellently linked fruit and oak create a harmony of full, fleshy, intense, persistent flavours that could well be called exciting." Wired For Wine: From 100 year old vines comes this disarmingly delicious Martin Cendoya Reserva Rioja. Expressive, opulent and impeccably balanced, you will struggle to decide which you enjoy most: the rich fruit, gorgeous oak, notes of smoke, incense, and mineral or its velvety layers. Break into your first bottle and savor it with grilled lamb sausage coins or steak satay with garlic aoili. They will both bring out the oak and smoke of this lovely Spanish red. Moving on to the entree, this Martin Cendoya blend is best with lamb, beef and meats, as well as duck and roasted poultry. To awaken the lively fruit, we suggest roasted breast of duck with a lingonberry sauce. Así que muy bien! Braised lamb shank with red onion preserves is another terrific choice. The tartness of the preserves will also work beautifully with the fruit of this Reserva. When you are able, open another bottle and enjoy this elegant Tempranillo blend with a Spanish Roncal cheese. It is firm, nutty and piquant - the perfect companion for this Reserva Rioja. Bebe mis amigos! Size: 750ml Varietal: 80% Tempranillo, 15% Graciano and 5% Mazuelo. Alcohol: 13.5% Ageing: 24 months in French and American oak Region: Rioja Alavesa, Spain |
