Joseph Drouhin Laforet Bourgogne Chardonnay 2010
Winery: "Fruity and full of life. This is a classical white Burgundy and a good entry level wine for Burgundy in general. The colour is golden yellow, with a greenish glint. The aromas are reminiscent of fresh grape and green almond. Elegant texture. The wines are pure. They show style and elegance. The good balance between mellowness and acidity provides a lot of freshness and enhances their fruitiness and character."Véronique Drouhin-Boss
Wired For Wine: The Drouhin family has been making Chardonnay (white Burgundy) and Pinot Noir since 1880. Haven't had a white Burgundy lately? Seeing as it's not their first time to the rodeo, you should definitely try this Joseph Drouhin Laforet Bourgogne Chardonnay. We think the lovely acidity and sleek feel of this terroir allows this wine to be a versatile partner with a long list of foods. The price isn't bad either... Serve your first chilled glasses with a French classic: garlicky escargots. Make sure there's plenty of baguette slices to mop up the divine sauce. The fresh fruit, perfect acidity and smooth texture of this Laforet make it an ideal companion for chicken, seafood, lobster, smoked and cured meats and lots more. The acidity of this Joseph Drouhin is magnifique with cream sauces, so we suggest Bresse chicken with a mushroom cream sauce, and some shaved truffles if you're feeling fancy. You will think the wine was created for this dish. If you're looking for a wow factor, prepare scallops and shrimp in croûte de sel(salt crust) and serve them with lemony grilled skinny asparagus. Butter and buttery sauces are terrific with this Bourgogne Chardonnay too. Another favorite of ours is a beautifully browned sole meuniere. If Julia liked it, who are we to argue? Put the crowning touch on the meal with a freshly opened bottle, full glasses, and tiny chevre crottin cheeses. Can I get a Voila??! Size: 750ml, cork Varietal: 100% Chardonnay Alcohol: @13.0% Ageing: Stainless-steel vats (7 to 8 months). One to two year old barrels for the wines of higher provenance. Region: Burgundy, France |
