Left Coast Cellars Cali's Cuvee Pinot Noir 2008

Left Coast Cellars Cali's Cuvee Pinot Noir 2008

  • Wine Spectator 92
Wine Spectator:  Rated as Outstanding: a wine of superior character and style. "Lithe, supple and graceful, brimming with blueberry, currant, coffee and wet earth flavors, lingering easily on the medium-bodied, open-textured finish. Drink now through 2018. Tasted twice, with consistent notes." Oct 2011

Winery:  "The delicate fragrances of this wine reveal rhubarb, clove, pepper and smoke, before sliding into a silky combination of pomegranate and cranberry. The finish exposes rich cacao and black cherry. Pair with spicy, smoked barbecue ribs or decadent chocolate cherry brownies."

Wired For Wine:    You're going to want a glass of this "lithe, supple and graceful" Left Coast Cellars Cali's Cuvee Pinot Noir... Imagine having that glass with a duck pizza drizzled with hoisin and scallions.  The smokiness of the hoisin will mesh beautifully with the lovely pepper, smoke and rich cacao of this Oregon Pinot.  Pondering what might come next, I'm considering the delicious assortment of spices, wet earth, lush, and dark fruit in this Cali's Cuvee.  They together provide a wonderful companion for lean beef, lamb, game and lots more.  Cedar-planked salmon with maple glaze and Dijon mashed potatoes is my first choice.  Beef tenderloin with garlic horseradish cream leans more to the savory side of this Left Coast Cellars.  But what I'm really craving and preparing for is the Herb-roasted turkey breast with pomegranate gravy I'm making because one Thanksgiving a year isn't enough... After all the eating is done, another bottle will have to be opened.  A French Morbier is the perfect choice - it's rich, creamy and delectably stinky.  What snow??
