Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate:  Rated as An outstanding wine of exceptional complexity and character.  "The 2002 Llicorella Seleccio raises the bar significantly. It is a blend of Garnacha Negra, Carinena, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah aged for 12-14 months in French and American oak. Dark ruby in color, it has a fragrant bouquet of pain grille, mineral, meat, blue and black fruits which jumps from the glass. The wine has terrific grip, a racy style, and intense, sweet fruit. The finish is long and pure. Drink this beauty over the next 10 years."  Feb 2007

Winery:  "Deep cherry red in colour with garnet tones, its aroma reminds (of) ripe red fruits and mineral notes.  In the mouth it is tasty, meaty, and powerful, with grassy and mature tannins.  It has a long, elegant and well balanced aftertaste with good aging hints. We select the very low production Garnacha and Mazuela vines over 60 years old, grown in terraces which are harvested in mid-October, together with Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, which ferment separately with a maceration of 22 days on their own skins.  The first ones are aged in French oak casks and the second ones are aged in American oak casks until their tannins are smoothed.  Without filtering, the wine is bottled to continue its aging in the cellar, until it achieves the personal character of these Priorat wines."

Wired For Wine:  The Llicorella Seleccio is truly a prize-winning Priorat.  This Spanish, full-bodied red wine will knock your socks off!  The dark fruits and meaty, mineral notes make it the perfect wine for stews and other hearty dishes.  While you're considering your entree options, have a hunk of nutty Manchego cheese with a big, delicious glass of the Llicorella Seleccio and enjoy its warm, powerful embrace.  We suggest a robust lamb stew with lots of onions and tomatoes.   Paella is another winner with this lovely wine.  If you're in the mood for crossing cultures, a cassoulet with duck and rabbit would be spectacular.  If you can't wait that long for the meal to cook, which is a distinct possibility, the Llicorella is wonderful with grilled swordfish.  A small mound of risotto with some melted Manchego might be just the thing to complete that platter...  Beber hasta los conocedores!
