Louis Jadot Pommard Pinot Noir 2006

Louis Jadot Pommard Pinot Noir 2006

Winery:  "Louis Jadot Pommard is a firm, fill bodied wine that is nevertheless exceptionally round and generous, with a soft, fruity depth of character and a bouquet suggestive of raspberries.  The cuisine capable of honouring Pommard wine has to be quite spicy with a strong flavour : hare, pheasant, entrecôte steak in wine, or cheeses like Epoisses, Livarot, Pont l'Evêque...  The best time for drinking it is after 5 years up to 10-15 years if kept in good conditions. (temperature, humidity)."

Wired For Wine:  Looking for an opportunity to try an easy-drinking Pinot from the world class Burgundy region?  Look no further, winelovers!  The unique Pommard soil routinely turns out some of Burgundy's most richly flavored wines; they possess gorgeous color, intense fruit and terrific musky earthiness, and are trustworthy, ample and well-structured.  The Louis Jadot Pommard is no exception.  It is smooth and pleasant with a very firm core.  Open that first bottle and let it sit for an hour or so, and then savor it with a platter of your favorite charcuterie.  We prefer the lovely dry salamis from France and Italy.  Herbs and flavorful sauces will work well with the generous Pommard, as will lamb, meats and game.  You can't go wrong with a grilled steak (make sure there's a bit of marbling to bring out the Jadot's beautiful tannins) and dress it in a red wine sauce au poivre.   Très bien fait!  If you're in the mood for game, we say medallions of venison with roasted yams and chestnuts and a huckleberry sauce.  It will bring out the raspberry and the earthy side of this Jadot Pommard.  Roast lamb is a sure thing too.  To close the meal properly, we recommend opening another bottle and pouring it next to a French Livarot cheese.  It has a strong aromatic personality, due to being washed in Calvados over the course of several weeks, and is best with red grapes and/or pear slices on the side.  Et voila mes amis!
