Louis Latour 1er Cru Puligny-Montrachet Sous Le Puits 2006

Louis Latour 1er Cru Puligny-Montrachet Sous Le Puits 2006

  • Wine Enthusiast 93
Wine Enthusiast:  Rated as "Excellent, extremely well made and highly recommended."

"A tight, highly-strung wine with the acidity currently dominating the rich fruits. It is structured and ripe, the fruit waiting to burst out. With its layers of toast, this is going to be an impressive wine."  Wine Enthusiast, October, 2008.

Winery:  "Puligny-Montrachet is the 216 hectare geographical middleman of the white wine villages, bordered by Meursault to the north and by Chassagne-Montrachet to the south with which it harbours 5 of the 6 white Grands Crus in Burgundy. The vineyard of "Sous le Puits" is in the heart of a cluster of the finest Premier Crus from Puligny-Montrachet.

The wine is rich and opulent with a focused goût de terroir. The flavour of the wine of "Sous le Puits" is buttery rich with a spicey exotic fruit character and a crisp balancing acidity. The finish is lingering."

Wired For Wine: All the other holiday turkeys will envy yours if it is accompanied by this showstopping Premier Cru Chardonnay.  The fine quality of the Louis Latour has resulted in a crisp acidity which really shines, with an ever so  subtle note of oak, thus making it the perfect companion to complex measl everyone works on long and hard.  Whether you are a traditionalist and can't imagine the holidays without oyster bread stuffing, or prefer wild rice and mushroom stuffing, brussel sprouts or green bean casserole, yams with marshmallow topping, creamed corn pudding or velvety mashed potatoes, the Louis Latour from Puligny-Montrachet Sous le Puits is your man. Oh, it loves bacon too...  The epic versatility of this wine gives it the ability to pull the many flavors of the holiday table together and make them work together like a well oiled (or buttered) machine.  Bon appétit wine lovers and gourmands!

If there is any left over, it will be fantastic with just about any seafood, chicken and veal.  If you're worn out after all the holiday cooking, how about some fresh linguine with a simple shrimp alfredo sauce?  Délicieux!
