MacRostie Sonoma Coast Chardonnay 2008
Wine Spectator: Rated as Outstanding: a wine of superior character and style. "A rich, elegant style, with intense, concentrated citrus, green apple, spice and fresh-cut flowers. Full-bodied, gaining depth and complexity on the finish, where the minerality shines through. Drink now through 2018." Dec 2010
Winery: "Very pale straw in color, with bright, creamy, lemon custard aromas, and a bit of floral vanilla to boot. In the mouth it is rich and round, with tropical pineapple and hints of key lime pie. Like said pie, the finish is both crisp and creamy." Wired For Wine: Take our advice, winelovers, and give this rich, complex, not-so-oaky MacRostie Sonoma Coast Chardonnay a try. You won't be disappointed. Fresh off of our trip to Martha's Vineyard, we can think of no better starter with your first bottle than mini lobster rolls on tiny brioche buns. Our mouths are watering already... The intense citrus, and other fruits, spice, floral notes, creaminess and lovely minerality of this California Chardonnay make it perfect for chicken and all thins from the sea. We love it with mixed vegetable and shrimp tempura served with a tangy lemon and olive mayonnaise. If you're not in the mood for shellfish, we suggest the equally delicious choice of creamed chicken with corn and bacon over polenta. Have the smelling salts ready because this dish could cause the vapors... Along the simple lines, we love the creamy full body of this MacRostie with seared scallops with morels and a buttery leek sauce. Refill everyone's glasses and cap off the meal with a ripe French Chevrot cheese. Its delightfully chalky, velvety nature is made for the intoxicatingly glorious finish of this Sonoma Coast white. Bottoms up winelovers! Size: 750ml, cork Varietal: 100% Chardonnay Alcohol: 14.1% Region: Sonoma Coast, Sonoma, California |
