MontGras Reserva Sauvignon Blanc 2010
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: Rated as Very good to excellent. "Precise, spice-accented nose of green apple, quince and white flowers, combined with an herbal aspect. Tactile and fine-grained, marked by zesty acidity giving definition to the dry flavors of lime, lemongrass and candied ginger. Fleshes out toward the back, finishing quite suave, with lingering notes of melon and lemon curd." May/Jun 2011
Winery: "Color: Pale straw with gold reflections. Bouquet: Delicate aromas of citrus and melon mingled with subtle herbal notes. Taste: Well balanced and mouth filling, with refreshing citrus fruit flavors and a racy acidity." Wired For Wine: While searching for a killer white value for our holiday entertaining, we found this MontGras Sauvignon Blanc Reserva, with its delicious notes of citrus and melon flavor. Did someone say turkey??? At this price, get out the big goblets, and top them off while you snack on a few dozen oysters. One of our favorites is the French Bélon, or their flat cousins which grow off the coast of Maine. As for the main course, this Reserva white is unbeatable (just like its price) with seafood, sushi, sashimi, chicken, pork, grilled vegetables and salads. We think olive oil poached salmon with braised artichokes and Sauvignon Blanc is scrumptuous with the subtle herbs of this MontGras. Pan-roasted Stilton chicken with apples will showcase the wonderful acidity of this Chilean charmer, while a grilled pork tenderloin with a mildly spicy mango chutney will bring out its spice accents. Open another bottle and savor that same "racy acidity" with a mouth-wateringly creamy French Chabichou du Poitou goat cheese. La vida es cortocircuito, mis amigos. Ponga en evidencia esa MontGras!! Size: 750ml; screw cap Varietal: 100% Sauvignon Blanc Alcohol: 14.0% Ageing: 7 months in stainless steel Region: Casablanca Valley, San Antonio Valley, Chile |
