Wired For Wine: Not much more to say here, VIPs, except for get out the good glasses!!

It is difficult to find this wine, so it goes without saying that this inventory is highly limited. This vintage is ready to drink now. This wine was purchased upon release and has been stored in the same temperature and humidity controlled cellar without being moved.

Robert Parker, Jr.-The Wine Advocate on the 2005 vintage:  Rated as An outstanding wine of exceptional complexity and character. "The opaque purple-hued 2005 exhibits an extraordinary nose of violets, creme de cassis, charcoal, and spring flowers. Gorgeously pure, opulently full-bodied, with sweet tannins, superb concentration, and a low acid, ripe, tannic finish, it tastes like a top-notch vintage of ripe Bordeaux, but made in California. It can be drunk now and over the next 20-25 years. Bravo! " Dec 2008

Winery notes for 2005: "Frequent spring rains through the month of May led to a year of cool temperatures and slow ripening, with an extended harvest that ended on November 2nd. A voluptuous garnet, the 2005 Opus One offers concentrated aromas of blueberry, rose petals, white truffle, licorice and nutmeg. Flavors of cassis, black olives, raspberry and dark chocolate culminate in a long and luscious finish."

Robert Parker, Jr.-The Wine Advocate on the 2007 vintage:  Rated as An outstanding wine of exceptional complexity and character. "Two of the strongest wines ever made at Opus One, the 2007 has terrific black currant fruit, licorice, incense, and subtle smoke, an opulent, even voluptuous mouthfeel, dazzling purity and texture, and a skyscraper-like mouthfeel. This is a sensational Opus One, with sweet tannin and impressive precision and depth. It can be drunk now or cellared for 25+ years." Dec 2009

Winery notes for 2007: "Picture perfect until late August, the 2007 vintage posed an unusual challenge, with a heat spell in September followed by rains and the threat of frost. Selective harvesting (the majority at night) produced a vintage recalling the generous 2001, with aromas of cassis, nutmeg, raspberries, cola, fresh oats, dark chocolate and forest floor. Polished, supple and harmoniously precise, the 2007 fuses a seamless mid-palate with soft yet sinewy tannins. The wine will age effortlessly for decades."
