James Halliday: Rated as Highly recommended. Wines of great quality, style and character, worthy of a place in any cellar.  "Bright colour; dark savoury fruit of mocha, blackberry and some mulberry is supported amply by well-handled toasty oak; the palate is also dark and thickly textured; a complex, well-constructed wine." Nov 2008

Wine Enthusiast:  "Matured 18 months in French oak, this rich, velvety-textured Shiraz shows plenty of vanilla influence as a result. But there’s also plenty of ripe blackberry fruit, and the overall impression is of a lush, fruity wine that would make a lovely steakhouse red." Apr 2009

Stephen Tanzer:  "Deep ruby. Powerful cherry and plum aromas are deepened by dark chocolate and espresso, not to mention a sexy undertone of oak spice. Fleshy and smooth, with deep, sweet dark fruit liqueur flavors, supple texture and good mineral lift. Juicy black raspberry and cherry compote flavors carry through a long, sappy finish." Jul/Aug 2008

Winery:   "The colour is beautiful dark cherry with a rich garnet rim. The nose is all deep chocolate, dark forest fruits with some spicy notes. The palate is richly opulent, beautifully structured with layered, fully integrated tannins supporting the depth of fruit. It is truly a “Royal” wine from a great red wine vintage year. It is a limited edition classical Barossa Shiraz from low-yielding vineyards.  The Barossa stands amongst the great wine regions of the world. From this region, Shiraz can express diversity in flavour, style and texture. The diverse terroir of our growers’ Barossa vineyards is reflected in the character of our wines. Soils, elevations and vine age vary from one vineyard to the next. The heart of Eight Songs lies in the old Shiraz vineyards spread across the landscape of the Barossa. During the vintage, we walk these vineyards, which typically yield less than 2.5 tons per acre, tasting the fruit, seeking the concentrated flavours we need for this style of Shiraz.  With Eight Songs we show an elegant and distinctly softer side to Barossa Shiraz. Fermented and matured in 100% new French oak hogsheads the palate shows dark plums, choc/mocha notes with hints of vanillin undertones. The seamless integration of opulent fruit and velvety tannins creates an elegant expression of Barossa Shiraz at its sensuous best."

Wired For Wine:  Luscious and seductive in its depth of fruit, the Peter Lehmann Eight Songs Shiraz will pair gorgeously with many meats.  Pour your first glass of this complex and textured delicious and enjoy it with a shooter of creamy, wild mushroom soup.  Your taste buds will thank you.  If you're serving a crowd, a big, rare roast beef will be perfect with the Eight Song's dark plum and blackberry notes.  Braised lamb shanks with with tomatoes will stand beautifully next to this Shiraz's richly opulent palate.  Game pies are lovely with the toasty oak and mocha of this Peter Lehmann. As you're winding down, pour another glass and serve it with a potent, aged cheddar.  You'll be glad you did, Mate!
