Pinino Clandestino Rosso di Montalcino 2004
Winery: "Characteristics of our Rosso di Montalcino: bright ruby-red colour, full taste of ripe red fruit and berries, classical Sangiovese-notes (with a) pleasing and well balanced tannin (with) fruity final and smooth fruity aftertaste. The Rosso di Montalcino is harmonious, elegant and spicy and a perfect match to a large variety of meals.
The Rosso di Montalcino is produced from the same grapes as the Brunello. In the refinement phase this wine has a shorter period of maturing and ready for drinking only two years after the vintage. The Rosso di Montalcino can be enjoyed while young and does not necessarily have to be seasoned (being stored) even though it matures well with increasing age and the tanins become even more elegant. Drinking temperature: 61 - 66 F" Wired For Wine: Rosso di Montalcino is made from the same grape as the Brunello di Montalcino, both made from a particularly fine clone of the Chianti grape, Sangiovese. Under DOC regulations, Brunellos remain in cask for 3 years under which some argue is too long and prices climb stratospherically high. Rosso di Montalcino was created under a separate DOC for wines released after 1 year at a much better value.
