Stephen Tanzer:  Rated as Outstanding.  "Opaque purple. Powerfully scented bouquet of dark berries, candied cherry, licorice and fresh violet. Deep blackberry and blueberry flavors coat the palate, picking up floral pastille and mocha qualities with air. Becomes spicier and tangier on the finish, which strongly echoes the mocha note. This is showing the most richness of this set and would benefit the most from cellaring, I suspect." May/Jun 2009

Winery:  "The 2007 Belloni is characterized by particularly dark opaque color and a rich boysenberry, candied cherry, mocha flavor - characteristics achieved by the cofermentation of Zinfandel, Carignane, Petite Sirah, and Alicante Bouchet grapes. Seemingly sweet, this wine is very round and full with lots of boysenberry, blackberry, and blueberry hints to it. The nice cool climate acidity gives the wine a good balance and structure. Enjoy its long, elegant, spicy finish that fills the palate beautifully."

Wired For Wine:  This deep purple Ravenswood Belloni Russian River Zinfandel is most definitely not for the faint of heart. Bring on the smoke, spice, barbecue, and most importantly winelovers, the meat! This irresistable Zinfandel will absolutely seduce you with its stunning combination of rich, dark fruit, frisky spice, gorgeous tannins, which together lead to a long, tangy finish. Pour your first glass of this Belloni single vineyard and snack on some toasted pork ravioli bites with smoky fresh tomato sauce. They will bring out the licorice and cola of this Russian River red. If it's an informal meal, we love this zesty Zin with a big platter of "chili on the half shell" - chili topped with melted cheese, chopped red onion, pickled jalapenos and sour cream, all perched atop crispy fried tortilla chips. Ye-Haw! Since we're already eating with our fingers, how about Kansas City style sweet and sticky barbecued ribs? Nothing can bring out the delicious ripe fruit side of this Ravenswood better... Put some golden, spicy corn bread next to it and you'll think you've died and gone to holiday Heaven.  Hearty, baked pastas with mushrooms and tomato sauce are great for the earthy side of this wine too. Last but not least, if it's been a busy day, why not just order in some peppery Sechuan beef? How will you ever decide??
