Renacer Punto Final Clasico Malbec 2008
Robert Parker, Jr.'s, The Wine Advocate: Rated as "An outstanding wine of exceptional complexity and character."
"The unoaked 2008 Punto Final Clsico contains 97% Malbec and 3% Cabernet Franc aged for 10 months in stainless steel. It was sourced from own-rooted vineyards over 50 years of age. Made in a late-harvest style, this deep purple-colored wine reveals a nose of spice box, incense, and black cherry. Layered and rich on the palate, it conceals some ripe underlying tannin that should allow the wine to provide pleasure over the next 4 years. It is an amazing fruit bomb for $10!" Robert Parker, Jr.'s, The Wine Advocate, August, 2009. The Rambling Cork (Blog): "Here's a Malbec that's got a lot going for it. Many Malbecs suffer from being too earthy, desperately calling out for the addition of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot in the blend, like their Bordeaux cousins. This one adds 2% Cabernet Franc in the blend. Nicely done. The wine is deep colored with bright garnet edges in the glass. As you swirl, it has an inviting nose of ripe, black cherries, edged with toasty oak notes. Nice legs this one. It's packed with lip-smackin' flavors and exhibits good balance with a polished style. It's a wine that begs another sip...or is that quaff. Slow down and enjoy the show. Produced from 50 year old vines." Winery: This wine has been made with grapes from vines more than 50 years old and whose production was less than 3.6 Tn per acre. To preserve its distinct varietal qualities it wasn't filtered, thus it may contain sediments. Decant if necessary Wired for Wine: This Mendoza Malbec pairs superbly with a grilled steak, rack of lamb and does well with barbecued meats. Drink from 2009 to 2013.
