The Riondo Pianello is a medium-bodied red blend from the Italian Veneto region which delivers fantastic body, character and style to what is typically a simple wine.  Try it; you will like it.  Because of it's medium body, it has great flexibility in terms of pairings.  Depending on your mood, it works with lamb, pork and beef.  On the heartier side, we love it with a grilled rack of lamb with a sweet and tart onion marmalade on the side.   The slight char of the meat combined with the tart hit of vinegar in the marmalade are the perfect balance to the heady fruit notes in the wine.  Medallions of beef with a red wine reduction and earthy, saut�ed mushrooms are another hearty choice.  On a less hearty note, we like panfried pork chops with garlicky broccoli rabe on the side.  Delizioso.  You'll want to make the long, lush finish of this Rosso Veneto last, so have some Swiss Appenzeller cow's milk cheese to finish off what will no doubt be a terrific meal.  Dammi un altro bicchiere per favore!
