Roco Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2009

Roco Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2009

  • Robert Parker, Jr. 91
Robert Parker,Jr.-The Wine Advocate:  Rated as An outstanding wine of exceptional complexity and character. "The 2009 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley offers up notes of cedar, spice box, rose petal, cherry, and raspberry. Velvety-textured, sweetly-fruited, and well-balanced, this crowd-pleaser can be approached now and over the next 5-6 years (2011-2017).

Roco is the personal project of veteran vigneron Rollin Soles of Argyle Winery." Oct 2011

Winery:  "... beautiful conditions brought rich, ripe, luscious fruit to our fermenters. The result is lovely, balanced, richly colored Pinot Noir that is perfectly matched to pleasant mineral and tannin textures. It will delight the drinker today and merit some serious age in the bottle."

Wired For Wine:  From Oregon, home of the spectacular Pinot, we bring you this outstanding Roco Willamette Valley Pinot Noir. Fill your glasses and and get things off and running with a platter of planked figs with pancetta and goat cheese. Talk about lively! The spice box, cedar, rich dark fruit, terrific tannins and pleasant minerality of this Roco are lovely with everything from duck and salmon, to lean beef, lamb and pork. Our first choice is Asian glazed salmon over fluffy jasmine rice. The sweet-salty of the glaze echoes similar juxtaposition in the wine. Grilled pork tenderloin with spiced rhubarb chutney will bring out the cherry and raspberry notes and the lovely tannin of this Willamette Valley red. If you're feeling a little fancy, make it seared duck breast with cherries and a port sauce. After everyone's had a little respite, open another bottle to go with a rich, creamy and kinda stinky French Morbier cheese. It's addictive, and one of our favorites. Fill your glasses, winelovers; you won't regret it...
