Robert Parker, Jr., The Wine Advocate rated this as An outstanding wine of exceptional complexity and character.  "It is a spectacular value in Toro that totally over-delivers for its bargain basement price. This is one to buy by the case.  The 2006 Toro was aged in French and American oak, 50% new. Purple colored, it has an excellent, slightly roasted perfume with notes of wood smoke, scorched earth, espresso, and blackberry. Full-bodied, fat, and well-endowed on the palate, the wine has gobs of spicy, forward fruit, excellent balance, and enough structure to last for another 8 years. "  Aug 2008.

Wired For Wine:  The Toro Denominación de Origen has been producing bold wines with structure and body since the 12th century.  Today, the region produces many great values and the Sabor Real Toro is one of the better ones. The Sabor Real Toro delivers the characteristic Toro boldness combined with a lovely elegance of fruit and excellent balance.  All of these components make this Tempranillo a terrific match with beef, lamb chops, game and roasted poultry.  To start, the Sabor Real will go spectacularly with a selection of meaty tapas dishes.  Pick your favorites!  We had braised short ribs with black pepper spaetzle last night, and they would have been perfect with the earthy character of this wine.  Simply grilled rib lamb chops with Stilton mashed potatoes are another great choice, as is a robust, meaty paella.  Catch your breaths after all of that delicious, and open another bottle with a Spanish Mahon cow's milk cheese.  It's tangy, intense and will be just the ticket to wrap up your meal.  Un vaso grande para mi!
