Wine Enthusiast:  Rated as Excellent, extremely well made and highly recommended. "A profound Cabernet from Santa Rita’s home vineyard in Alto Jahuel. The hue is dark and opaque, while the nose is deep and earthy, but also intensely fruity. Shows fine structure and a lot of black cherry and cassis. Grabby, tight and ageable through at least 2013. The real deal in affordable Chilean higher-end CS; offers a little of everything, from spice to herbs to olive to fine fruit." Jun 2011

Winery:  "Deep ruby-red in color, with a bouquet of black fruits such as black currants, blueberries, and blackberries with dried figs, cigar box, and spice notes. The concentrated palate offers well-rounded ripe tannins that create the prominent backbone that leads the wine on to a long, lingering finish."

Wired For Wine:  You might just call out your thanks to the saints when you take your first sip of Santa Rita Medalla Real Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon.  Its deep earthiness, dark, intense fruit and phenomenal price make it a must-get for the upcoming holidays.  Your palate will literally dance when you treat it to its first glass with Middle Eastern style lamb- and mint-stuffed small tomatoes.  Tendré dos, por favor.  The spices, herbs, black, blue and other fruit and beautifully smooth tannins of this Gran Reserva make it a great choice for meats of all kinds, as long as they're on the hearty side, game and game birds, and even your favorite burger.  Our first choice is filet mignon on charred onions and zucchini with a balsamic vinegar sauce.  If you're in the mood for game, then make it herb-rubbed duck with tart cherry and sage sauce.  It will bring out the gorgeous fruit of this Medalla Real like a pro. Red wine braised short ribs with bacon mixed vegetables on the side may actually bring on some rapture.  Your choice.  Open another bottle for some very happy diners, and offer them the aged, stinky cheese you like best.  For those with a sweet tooth: decadently creamy bittersweet chocolate pudding topped with a spoonful of fresh-whipped cream, sprinkled with toasted, sugared hazelnut pieces.  ¡Cuándo debemos llegar?!
