Sonoma-Cutrer Sonoma Coast Estate Chardonnay 2008
Winery: "This wine has all the elements of a classic chardonnay. The fruit aromas of fresh sliced apple and Asian pear are complimented with citrus notes of lime zest, grapefruit and Meyer lemon and a floral touch of honeysuckle and orange blossom. In the mouth, it is lush, round and creamy with support from a firm acid structure that creates excellent balance. Fruit flavors of lemon curd, lime, Asian pear and baked apple fold into shortbread, candied pecans and marmalade that is touched with toasty oak before the long finish of sweet key lime." Wired For Wine: Happy back-to-school winelovers. Yes, we're still celebrating, and doing a great job of it with this mouthwatering California Chardonnay! This Estate-bottled Sonoma-Cutrer Sonoma Coast Chardonnay is great with poultry, shellfish, vegetables and even lighter meat dishes. A terrific start to accompany your first glass is a salad tossed with garlic vinaigrette, topped with a generous sprinkle of Boucheron on top. The lovely acid of this Chardonnay will work oh-so-nicely with a cherry tomato and basil tart, or a white bean, arugala, pancetta pizza as a main event. We love the toasty oak and citrus of this Sonoma-Cutrer with tarragon chicken breasts on a bed of asparagus, topped with lump crabmeat. How could you not? And finally, if you'd like to go the classic shellfish route, we suggest fennel mussels with a piquillo rouille, a delicious puree of, among other things, peasant bread, fish broth, piquillo, garlic, lemon, olive oil and saffron. Heaven. Pour another generous glass and enjoy this Estate Chardonnay's full array of Sonoma fruits with a platter of bite-sized, melt-in-your mouth lemon meringues. That's what we're talking about, winelovers!! Size: 750 ml Varietal: 100% Chardonnay Alcohol: 13.9% Barrel aging: 7 months in small French oak Region: Sonoma Coast, California |
