Talbott Logan Chardonnay 2008
Robert Parker, Jr.-The Wine Advocate: Rated as An outstanding wine of exceptional complexity and character. "The 2008 Chardonnay Logan (a selection from the Sleepy Hollow Vineyard) is a slightly fruitier, more structured style of Chardonnay from Talbott. Light straw-colored, the wine displays notes of nectarine, kiwi, orange marmalade, honey, and subtle oak. Cutting a broad swath across the palate, it is full-bodied, rich, and impressively endowed. It is the best Talbott Chardonnay in a number of years.
This is the most impressive lineup of wines I have seen from Talbott in a number of years." Aug 2010 Winery: "This vintage of Talbott Chardonnay, Logan displays all of the appealing qualities that have come to define this wine. The color is medium-straw with great clarity. In the bouquet, aromas of pineapple, kiwi and guava mingle with notes of vanilla and toast. On the palate, the wine displays a rich mouthfeel, excellent structure and good balance. The initial impression offers lush tropical fruit followed by a citrus and mineral midpalate, and a long, clean, dry and satisfying lemon brioche." Wired For Wine: According to Robert Parker, Jr., this Talbott Logan Chardonnay is part of the most impressive lineup of Talbott wines he has seen in many years. Where do we sign?? Open your first chilled bottle and serve it with a big bowl of Tiki snack mix. Meaty bacon, roasted peanuts, dried pineapple, soy sauce and a pinch of cayenne combine to bring out the tropical fruit and toast of this California Chardonnay beautifully. Talk about a mouthful of Pupu platter in every bite... Moving on to the entree, the full body, clear minerality, rich fruit and gentle oak of this terrific white will pair seemlessly with many choices from chicken, seafood, shellfish, to vegetables alike. A spinach pasta carbonara will be terrific next to the full body and lush mouthfeel of this Talbott. A delicious and easy nod to the toasty oak is a large pan of curried chicken and vegetables roasted to the perfect brown. We are thoroughly enjoying the butternut squash in the stores, so we suggest sugar-and-spice-roasted squash as an accompaniment to simply grilled salmon. The slight char of the salmon will be heavenly opposite the caramelized brown sugar on the squash. When the meal is over, treat yourselves to another cool bottle and an intoxicating pineapple tart tatin with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. We dare you not to like it. If savory is more your style, then room temperature Boucheron goat cheese is a great choice. Sign here winelovers!!
