Veramonte Reserva Chardonnay 2006
Wine News: Crisp scents of slate, mineral and lemon peel. Creamy acidity and juicy flavors of pear and golden pineapple.
Stephen Tanzer: Rated as Very Good to Excellent. "Green-hued yellow. Seductively perfumed nose offers ripe melon, pear, vanilla and an exotic anise quality. Nicely concentrated pit fruit and melon flavors are braced by zesty acidity and gain sweetness and flesh on the close. The oak is very suavely integrated here and the finish displays impressive persistence." Mar/Apr 2008 Winery: "Fresh floral and tropical fruit aromas mingle with mineral and citrus accents. Pineapple, nectarine, melon and banana resonate in this elegant Chardonnay with freshness and a bright finish. Exotic, fruity, spicy, crisp, refreshing, delicious. Floral aromas of the South Pacific. Chile's Casablanca Valley is surrounded by coastal mountain ranges creating a diversity of unique microclimates and terroir. Its close proximity to the Pacific Ocean provides an exceptionally long growing season for intensity of fruit flavors." Wired For Wine: Knock Knock. Who's there? Exotic, fruity, crisp, refreshing bang for your buck! Veramonte Reserva Chardonnay delivers delicious flavor with minerality and beautifully integrated oak which will complement any seafood and chicken you serve. This Reserva's creamy acidity and hit of lemon peel make it the perfect counterbalance for buttery or creamy sauces. It is a terrific aperitif by itself, or starting off the meal with a rich bowl of New England clam chowder. We love this wine with grilled, marinated sea bass on a bed of cannellini beans. A simpler dish which will pick up the sophisticated oak is roast chicken with garlic cloves. Heavenly. And finally, if you're feeling like you deserve it, roast a lobster and drizzle it with a luscious tarragon-lemon butter. Open another bottle and enjoy it with a thinly sliced baguette and a hearty, earthy Brie. Orange you glad you did?
