Wyndham Estate Show Reserve Shiraz 2004
Wine Enthusiast Magazine: Rated as "Excellent, extremely well made and highly recommended."
This Show Reserve offering combines toasty, oak with blackberry and blueberry fruit, all supported by plenty of weight and firm tannins. Vanilla and cedar on the finish is balanced by dusty, briary fruit. Wine Enthusiast, May, 2008. Winemaker: "Wyndham Estate Show Reserve Shiraz is a superb example of Australian Shiraz showcasing rich plum and berry fruit flavors with subtle pepper and spice. Given bottle maturation before release, this is a wine to be enjoyed now or which will reward cellaring for up to 15 years. George Wyndham plated Australia's first commercial Shiraz vineyards over 175 years ago. To continue his legacy of pioneering great Australian Shiraz, each vintage our Chief Winemakers set aside the best parcels of Shiraz from premium viticultural regions exhibiting outstanding varietal character." Wired for Wine: The rich Wyndham Hill Shiraz is perfect with braised meats. Our choice is slow-cooked beef short ribs, joined by thin French green beans and silky mashed potatoes with just a hint of horseradish. Delicious. If you prefer something a little lighter, we suggest a grilled tuna steak drizzled with a teriyaki sauce, paired with a sesame wakame (seaweed) salad. What could be better? Maybe just one more glass of the Show Reserve... Size: 750 ml Varietal: 100% Shiraz (Syrah) Alcohol: 15.0% Vintage: 2004 Region: Hunter Valley, north of Sydney, Australia |
