Yalumba Y Series Cabernet Sauvignon 2010
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: Rated as Very Good to Excellent. "Deep ruby. Aromas of dark berries and cherry show a jammy quality and a hint of mocha. Pliant, straightforward blackberry and bitter cherry flavors pick up a minty quality on the back half, along with a touch of cracked pepper. Finishes dry and tangy, with good cut and focus. Nothing fat or stereotypically Australian about this wine, which offers excellent bang for the buck." Jul/Aug 2011
Winery: "A dark scarlet with purple hues, this wine exhibits classic varietal aromas of crushed blackcurrants, violets and mint leaf, which are enhanced by hints of dusty French oak, tobacco leaf and cinnamon. A full bodied and rich wine on the palate, the Y Series Cabernet Sauvignon shows classical flavours of mint leaf and blackcurrant with hints of chocolate. Balanced ripe tannins parade across the palate, leading to a long and persistent finish." Fun Fact: "This Cabernet Sauvignon depicts the scarecrow, our ‘guardians of abundance’, who keep a watchful eye over our ripening grapes and our community during the Barossa Vintage festival." Wired For Wine: A Cabernet under $11 which Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar calls "Very Good to Excellent", and says it "offers excellent bang for the buck". Need we say more??
