Wired For Wine: Ciao bella! These words will probably come tumbling from your lips after your first sip of delicious Zonin Brut Prosecco. This light, well-balanced sparkling Italian is trademark Prosecco crispness combined appealingly clean fruitiness, a touch of almond and a creamy texture. In a word: fantastic; in two words: great value! We love this Zonin all by itself as a festive aperitif. Or, you can mix in a tiny bit of fresh peach puree and dream of Tuscany while sitting on a bellini cloud... It doesn't have to be peach, by the way, it could be muddled strawberries, or any other fruit you like. Most any appetizer which isn't heavy or meaty will be terrific with the many fruit nuances and clean character of this lovely Prosecco. Smoked salmon with a creamy, mild horseradish sauce perched on a thin slice of sauteed potato will do nicely. How about ground shrimp in crisp-fried wonton skins? Squisito! One of our favorite meals is all appetizers and no entrees! Make a salad with asparagus, greens, avocado and scallions with a tangy lemon vinaigrette. If you're feeling flush, pile on some fresh lobster... An assortment of your favorite sushi will work beautifully, just nothing hot and spicy... Set out some lightly salty prosciutto with ripe canteloupe and a dish of addictive Marcona almonds so that there may be snacking galore whatever your taste. They will both balance the light, creamy texture of this Zonin sparkler perfectly. Because we can't get enough of this gorgeously fresh Prosecco, all we need to close out the meal is just another glass. Te piacce?
