Nervi-Conterno Gattinara 2016
Nervi is the oldest winery in Gattinara. Gattinara is home to some of the best Nebbiolo vineyards in the world. Wine Spectator thought so much of the Nervi-Conterno Gattinara, they put it on their Top 100 Wines of 2019 list, ahead of 63 others on that list... We think you should try it. Veramente.
Antonio Galloni's Vinous: "Nervi's 2016 Gattinara from Nervi is superb. Sweet red cherry, mint, juniper berry and wild flowers are some of the many notes that soar out of the glass. The 2016 is distinguished by its brilliant aromatic presence and tremendous purity of fruit. Even just bottled, the 2016 exudes precision and nuance to burn. Of course, the 2016 needs time, but readers who want to get a sense of what the future holds at Nervi will get plenty of answers here. This is such a captivating wine. Drinking window: 2024-2041." Jancis Robertson: "In May of 2018, Roberto Conterno, proprietor of the world famous Giacomo Conterno estate in Barolo, acquired a 90% stake in Nervi, the historic Alto Piemonte producer. Conterno is the first Barolista to invest in Alto Piemonte. 75 miles north of Alba, a wealth of Nebbiolo vineyards on some of Italy’s most complex soils is to be had for a fraction of the price currently asked in the Langhe."
