We recommend kicking things off with a carne cruda, the Piedmontese style steak tartar. The fresh flavors of the dish will match beautifully with the elegance of the wine. The silky texture and beautiful layers of flavor of this Marziano Abbona San Luigi Dogliani Dolcetto are lovely with rich meats. Calves liver with onions and raisins may sound like an odd combination, but it marries perfectly with the earthiness of the wine as well as its fruit and floral side. Bring your meal to a close with refilled glasses and an Italian Grana Padano cheese. Last but not least, we have to mention another very attractive thing about this Piedmontese red: the price! Happy shopping winelovers!
Antonio Galloni's Vinous: "The 2018 Dogliani San Luigi is plump, juicy and full of character. Red cherry jam, wild flowers, spice, game and licorice infuse the 2018 with notable varietal character. Medium in body and persistent, the 2018 has so much to offer. What a delicious wine it is. Drinking window: 2020-2026." Mar 2020
Winery: "This wine is the result of a very rich and intense vintage. The color shows the classic ruby red with the characteristic purple hues, the nose is very fruity, evident and very powerful. The hot and dry summer vigorously pushes the San Luigi with intense fruity scents, richer than in previous vintages. The classic almond finish and the tannin typical of Dolcetto grapes complete the aromatic frame. It's a perfect food pairing red wine. Serve between 61-64 degrees F."
