Brewery:  "Japan’s first Nama-Sake, created over 40 years ago, sparking the Nama-Sake boom. Being unpasteurized and undiluted allows you to enjoy the fruity aroma and fresh full-bodied flavor of this Sake, and being 19% alcohol it’s a high-impact sensory experience. Because of the delicate nature of un-pasteurized Sake, this product is sold in a can to shield it from the light.

Funaguchi has a rich, full-bodied flavor but with a refreshing clean finish. Because this Sake is un-pasteurized this fresh fruity flavor matures day-by-day in the can. In six months it transforms into a rich brandy-like flavor. After one year it comes to resemble a Chinese rice wine. Also being un-diluted instead of the usual 15% alcohol Funaguchi has 19% alcohol opening it up to the possibility of interesting cocktails. Experience the difference of un-pasteurized, un-diluted Sake."

Importer: "Since Funaguchi's birth in the 47th year of the Showa period (1976), it has become beloved all over Japan, popular for home and restaurant consumption, and even as a portable treat for hikers and mountain climbers. Full-bodied, and full of the fresh flavor of ripe fruits. Pop open an ice-cold Funaguchi to experience one of Japan's most popular and unique offerings for yourself.

Food Pairings:  Shiokara (heavily salted & fermented fish), Szechuan Cuisine & other strongly seasoned Chinese Cuisines, Chicken Empanadas, Ramen"
