We love this Spring Valley Vineyards Uriah Red with upscale fare, as well as the everyday. For fancier occasions, we bring out this Washington red blend for grilled lamb or veal chops. They're delicious with a mustard sauce and oven-roasted plum tomatoes on the side, and grilling them will highlight the beautiful tannins in the wine. For more casual meals, this Spring Valley is perfect with a tender pot roast or a simple roast chicken.  If you've got some time, make a simple cherry chutney with a hint of anise in it for the chicken to bring out the red fruit of this Walla Walla winner... Buttered noodles with mushrooms will round out either casual choice nicely. Be sure there's enough for afterwards, and pour a couple more glasses to go with a cheddar-like, subtly sharp Cantalet cheese, or a stronger, aged Mimolette. You can do all of this now or in a few years, because this Uriah is built to last a while... Cheers!

Wine Spectator: "Sleek, expressive and well-built, with floral red currant and tomato leaf aromas, and harmonious cherry and pepper flavors that move toward refined tannins. Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec. Drink now through 2023." Apr 2017

James Suckling: "An array of dark cherries and plums with some blackberries, wild herbs and a gently savory/tarry edge to the nose. This is subtly complex. The palate has a sleek and composed shape. Cooler blue fruits are nicely compressed and neatly balanced. Impressive depth here, too. Blend of 56% merlot, 38% cabernet franc, 4% petit verdot and 2% malbec. Drink or hold." May 2018

Winery: "A blend focused on elegance and finesse. Herbal nose with hints of cassis and cherries. Lightly spiced, the texture is rich with velvety tannins and an ultra-long finish.

The names given to Spring Valley Vineyard wines are a tribute to the family members who have struggled and succeeded in farming the same land where the vineyard and winery now flourish. Uriah Corkrum was the grandfather of Shari Corkrum Derby. Born in Walla Walla on June 1, 1866, he began successfully farming on his own during the 1880s. Unusual summer rain kept him from getting his harvested wheat to the warehouse so he lost everything in the depression of 1893. He persevered and, in 1897, acquired land in the area known as Spring Valley."
