Antonio Galloni's, Vinous: ""The 2019 Maranges La Fussières 1er Cru Rouge, which contains around 30% whole bunches, has a well-defined nose with autumn leaves and tea leaf infusing the vibrant red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with a structured opening, very fresh and brimming with tension, harmonious from start to finish with a liberal sprinkling of cracked black pepper on the very sustained aftertaste. Excellent. Drinking window: 2023-2038." Dec 2020

Robert Parker, Jr.'s Wine Advocate: "Though quantities are down due to frost, the 2019 vintage has turned out brilliantly at Maranges reference-point Domaine Bachelet-Monnot, where brothers Mark and Alexandre preside over a superb portfolio of serious, structured whites and demonstrative, pleasure-bent reds. Farming organically but without certification, the style here continues to evolve: since 2016, grapes have been crushed before pressing, and the brothers now retain more lees. As has been the case for some time now, white wines ferment and mature in 350-liter barrels. Red wine vinifications are gentle and are followed by maturation in modest percentages of new wood. Everything reviewed here comes warmly recommended.

The 2019 Maranges 1er Cru La Fussière opens in the glass with notes of peonies, cherries, wild berries and spices. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and precise, with lively acids, fine tannins and a perfumed, mouthwateringly saline finish, it's a real success. This cuvée has grown, as the Bachelet brothers have acquired more parcels in this stony climat. Drink date: 2022-2040." Jul 2021

Winery: "At eleven acres, these vines constitute the largest holding of the domain. And the vines are mature, with an average age of 55 years. The site is up-slope and the wine is heavily influenced by the calcareous soils. Deep, dark, direct and mineral, this wine is a terrific buy for premier cru Burgundy."
