Since 1856 the Hiedler winery has been turning out delicious wines which pay homage to the Niederosterreich territory in Austria. The Hiedler Loss Gruner Veltliner is no exeption. Fish, seafood, chicken, and in particular, vegetable dishes will all pair beautifully with this juicy white and its stone fruit, bright acidity and beckoning personality. Enjoy the lovely aromas of you first glass neat, or with steamed artichokes with a lemon aioli on the side. The perfect first course is a salad of shredded kale and brussels sprouts with toasted, slivered almonds as a nod to the subtle earthiness of the wine. A classic Wiener Schnitzel with lemon wedges on the side is another terrific option, as is your favorite mildly spicy Asian fish or chicken dish. We also like it with zucchini noodles and a basil pesto. How will you ever choose??

Wine Spectator: "A ripe style, this delivers apricot, peach and floral aromas and flavors on a creamy texture, picking up touches of lentil and celery root as citrusy acidity brings this into focus on the long finish. Drink now through 2024. Feb 2018

Winery: ""The profound loess soils in the Danube area were created over thousands of years by deposits of mineral sands, especially during the ice ages. They are today preserved in various mineralic compositions of clay, lime, quartz and mica. These mineral components are readily available to the vines and responsible for the typical fruit and texture of the loess-grown Veltliners."

Trade Notes: "Fresh apple fruit backed by hints of herbs, subtle notes of orange zest. Juicy and elegant structure, crisp acidity, a salty touch, animating, versatile food companion."
