91pts Wine Enthusiast
Cathedral Cellar Cabernet Sauvignon is a buy-by-the-case deal, winelovers! Sip a glass solo as you prep some tasty appetizers. We prefer garlic and soy glazed chicken wings. Simple and delicious, to bring out the lovely tannins is grilled filet mignon with a tomato/tarragon confit. Requiring a bit more energy, but equally good is red wine braised short ribs with a horseradish cream. They're worth the effort when you taste how well they go with the savory side of this Cathedral. A wonderful side, or a non-meat entree is a tomato, black olive, chevre and roasted garlic tart. We dare you not to love the two together. What are you waiting for??

Wine Enthusiast:  Designated Editors' Choice. "Earthy mint and blackcurrant leaf aromas sit atop the rich, concentrated black-fruit core of this wine. The medium-weight palate offers bold blackberry, cassis and boysenberry flavors, framed by firm yet well-integrated tannins that provide a crushed-velvet texture. Notes of berry compote, dried fynbos (South African fine-leafed plants), green peppercorn and roast beef all unfold on the lingering, layered finish. Drink now–2021." Mar 2014

Winery:  "This layered Cabernet Sauvignon shows upfront aromas of black cherry, eucalyptus and clove with hints of mint and vanilla. The palate is soft and juicy with a bright acidity, bold tannin structure and an enduring finish.

This wine can be enjoyed on its own or paired with flavourful dishes such as stews, braised ribs, grilled beef or ostrich steak. It will also pair well with mild, flavoured cheese."
