95pts Robert Parker, Jr.
Who doesn't love a big, bold Napa Cabernet? Nobody we know, that's for sure. The Snowden 'Brothers Vineyard' Cabernet Sauvignon inspires typically high levels of adoration, and then some. Maybe it's the subtle notes of smoked lavender that mesh so beautifully into the fabric of this incredible red. Or the unabashed earthiness which has our mouths watering for a hearty beef stew with mushrooms, potatoes, and carrots, all braised to concentrated perfection. Two generations of the Snowden family work to craft the gorgeous products that come from this winery, and they've got the family business down. We could go on and suggest lots of other classic pairings for this shockingly good Cab, but we don't always want to walk on the path usually travelled. Instead, we think you should make big, fat charcuterie burgers with, among other things, andouille sausage, bacon, a smidge of foie gras and, of course beef. Tuck a chunk of aged cheddar cheese in the middle for a wickedly good melty center, grill and know that this is what happy feels like.

Robert Parker, Jr.: "The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Brothers Vineyard is ample with sweet tannin and notes of licorice, blackcurrants, graphite and earth. It is dense, powerful, yet at the same time well-balanced and pure, and exceptionally well-crafted. Give it several years of bottle age and drink it over the following 10-20 years (2015-2035). " Oct 2015

Antonio Galloni's Vinous: "Explosive and powerful to the core, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon The Brothers presents dark tonalities of fruit along with distinctly savory and mineral notes. Grilled herbs, smoke, lavender and pencil shavings add nuance. The Brothers is dark, powerful and brooding in style, not to mention more structured than the Ricos Cabernet. Accordingly, it needs a few years to fully come together." Oct 2015

Winery: "The 2013 Snowden Cabernet Sauvignon Brothers Vineyard is a classic Cabernet. Sometimes when I’m in the thrall of a great wine, I prefer not to single out tasting descriptors, in favor of general impressions of the spirit of the wine. The Brothers 2013 is focused and powerful. It is vibrant, brooding and balanced. It has mineral, savory length. Our entire family has worked so hard, and with the utmost integrity, to produce this wine. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do."

'The Brothers' Story: "The inaugural release of Snowden 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon “Brothers Vineyard”, a vineyard-specific wine made from Cabernet Sauvignon grown on what has proved to be the most favored terroir at the Snowden ranch. For many years the heart of the Snowden Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, the Brothers Vineyard went out of production in 2009 to allow for replanting. As the vineyard returns to production, it is reclaiming its status as the heart of Snowden’s first wine. Based on a single barrel produced in 2012 and the 706 cases produced from the 2013 vintage, the Brothers Vineyard is showing a distinctive and powerful flavor profile of classic, California-grown Cabernet Sauvignon, highlighted by the nuances that can only come from the annual variations in each new vintage. Commencing with the 2013 vintage, the Brothers Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is replacing the Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon in the portfolio of wines we will be producing each year."
