"These are unreal wines that are purely made, remarkably rich...promising that they cannot be ignored”

    Robert Parker, Jr.'s Wine Advocate

We love obsessive winemakers like Alain Brumont. He lives and breathes his craft, and surrounds himself with extremely talented people like Fabrice Dubosc, formerly of Chateau Margaux. Enough said there. See below if you need more kudos. The Brumont Chateau Bouscasse Madiran is a phenomenal wine with a deliciously full body, hearty fruit and lovely woodsy earthiness and a smidgin of spice. We're channeling fancy today, so suggest duck breast with toasted hazelnuts and a foie gras sauce. Medallions of bison with a coffee sauce will knit well with the earthy side of this French red. We can't seem to tear ourselves away from the duck, so we think cassoulet with lamb and duck would be delectable too. Et vous winelovers?

Wine Enthusiast:"Bouscassé is the home of Alain Brumont who also owns Château Montus in Madiran. This powerful wine with its blend of Tannat with the two Cabernets (Franc and Sauvignon) is dense and packed with firm tannins. It is also equally full of generous black-plum fruits and considerable acidity." May 2017

Decanter Magazine on Alain Brumont: "The cult of Brumont might be ... pitiful were it not for one fact: these wines are supremely good. This emperor is fully clothed. There is no resting on achievement at Brumont, and his key team members (Fabrice Dubosc, formerly of Chateau Margaux, at Brumont’s right hand, Simon Forgue at Montus and Alain Dutilh at Bouscassé) are all talented and ferociously hard-working." Robert Parker on Alain Brumont's wines: “These are unreal wines that are purely made, remarkably rich ... promising that they cannot be ignored.”

Bettane & Dessauve on Alain Brumont's wines: “Unbelievable Terroirs … monumental wines. The Petrus of the South West. Madiran has rediscovered its original varietal and its roots: those of an ageing wine capable of competing with the best Bordeaux wines."

Winery: "Harmony and power, a delicate fruitiness with aromas of blackberries and well-integrated tannins, full-bodied on the palate. This is a wine that stays young for a long time, evolving very slowly, and thus has a good potential to age. Pair with red meat and spicy dishes. Gascon, Béarnaise and Basque cuisine."
