Thomas Rivers Brown has given us this Kinsella Jersey Boys Vineyard Dry Creek Valley Cabernet. In case you don't know the name, he's honed his craft at highly esteemed houses like Jordan, Turley and Chiarello. He's one of only a handful of winemakers to receive 100 point scores from Robert Parker, Jr. and Wine Spectator's James Laube. He was named Winemaker of the Year in 2010 by Food & Wine. Industry speak for this guy really knows what he's doing. Young wineries don't typically get rave ratings and reviews from Mr. Parker so soon unless they're pretty extraordinary. Take note. We tasted the Jersey Boys two days ago and were smitten. For those of you who have an affinity for bold, rich, outstanding Cabs - this Kinsella is firmly in your wheelhouse. We immediately started scrolling through our mental catalog of hearty fall recipes. Lamb shanks braised long and low with tomatoes, garlic, white beans and red wine. Herb crusted standing rib roast with horseradish cream. Not a meateater? Try a zucchini gratin with a tomato confit. It's cheesy, garlicky and packed with flavor, and will pair beautifully with the earthy side of this Jersey Boys. We could go on and on.

Kevin Kinsella, proprietor at Kinsella Estates, a 2,500-case winery based in Dry Creek Valley, always planned on his bottle being different. A venture capitalist by trade, Kinsella was the largest investor in the theatrical hit “Jersey Boys,” an investment that guided many of the choices for his wine packaging." The bottle is a unique design, with a cartouche and insert coin which may be removed as a souvenir. People are using them for ball markers on the golf course. Yes, that's a thing. The Italian phrase 'Su Una Stretto Di Mano' is printed on the coin, which translates to 'On a Handshake', which is how Kevin prefers to do business, and is reminiscent of the Jersey Boys. We know from someone who was in the room that Mr. Parker exclaimed when he saw the bottle, and loved it.

Winery: "Our hillside Jersey Boys Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon block produces fruit with incredible intensity of flavor. An enticing nose of blueberry syrup and mocha leads to mouth coating fine tannins, intense blue and black fruits, hoisin sauce and a touch of forest floor earthiness. Patience is rewarded with an hour plus decant."
