"Extremely full-bodied and elegant..." ~ Winemaker

From highly sought-after Peter Michael winery and French winemaker Nick Morlet, the Peter Michael 'Les Pavots'. Cabernet Blend It's big, bold, earthy and delicious, with lots of dark fruit and developed tannins. It is ready-ish to drink now or you can stash it away for 10 years or more. The question then becomes: are you the hedonistic type, or more of a self disciplinarian? Yes, we've got some, and yes, we're by far the cheapest price out there. You're welcome.

Robert Parker, Jr. on the Peter Michael winery: "This wine is fabulous in the vintage, although certainly less profoundly concentrated and extracted, as well as structured, compared to the 2013, which was off-the-charts fabulous. This is a brilliant wine, charming, with front-end loaded plum, blackcurrant and black raspberry fruit interwoven with graphite, tar and truffle notes. The wine has sumptuous texture, sweet, velvety tannin, and a long, full-bodied finish. It should drink well for at least two decades. Drink date:  2016 - 2036." Oct 2016

"There's nothing that this winery does that is not admirable. Consider that they work with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon as well as Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, they produce world-class wines from all of these varietals, and they do it from Knight's Valley and the Sonoma Coast. Of course, they have had some fabulous winemakers pass through, including the likes of Helen Turley and Mark Aubert, Luc Morlet and now his brother, Nicolas Morlet. Nevertheless, much of the credit has to go to Sir Peter Michael, the owner, who gives these people carte blanche, and expects their very best." Dec 2015

"2014 Les Pavots greets the eye with a near-black ruby color and vermillion highlights. The nose has a deep bouquet of cacao powder, potpourri, black cherry, blueberry and licorice, with nuances of cedar, cigar box, black tea, graphite, vanilla, black truffle, and a stylish ‘garrigue’ touch. Extremely full-bodied and elegant, the wine offers the same rich, ripe fruit impressions on the palate. The mouth feel is dense and round, with supple tannins and earthy notes that lead to a long finish. Complex, the wine will age gracefully for two decades and provides a classic presentation of our estate’s terroir.

The name translates to “The Poppies” and is named after the California poppies that grow wild on our estate and are the inspiration for the winery’s logo."
