"Amazing young Brunello with superb concentration and depth. Goes on for minutes. A triumph." ~ James Suckling

We do love a magnum, especially when it's from San Filippo, situated in the east of Montalcino, where the most elegant and best aging wines of the entire Brunello district are produced.

Open your big, beautiful bottle of San Filippo Le Lucere Riserva Brunello di Montalcino and dive into the ruby red pool of intensely good flavor with escarole, bacon crostini with mostarda.  Just heavenly. The cherry, hint of spice, dense, silky tannins and refined and elegant full body of this Brunello is ideal with roast meats, game and game birds, as well as hearty pasta dishes. Grill up rib lamb chops with white beans prepared the Tuscan way on the side. Or, pasta with pancetta, prosciutto and cherry tomatoes to bring out the lovely red fruit in this San Filippo. And for those to-die-for velvety tannins, our favorite is Bistecca Fiorentina, steak flame-grilled the Florentine way, and charred ever so slightly. At this point, your diners will think the night is still very young, so best to have a good quality, aged Gouda cheese on hand for your last course. What could be better?

James Suckling: "Amazing young Brunello with superb concentration and depth. Full body, chewy yet polished tannins and mineral, oyster-shell and blueberry flavors. Goes on for minutes. Leave it until 2020 to open. A triumph." Nov 2016

Winery:  "The colour is ruby red with nuances tending to garnet. The intense, fine and complex perfume develops on notes of Morello cherry enhanced by a background note of spices, mostly cinnamon and cloves. On the palate, the initial tactile phase in which we can appreciate the structure, fullness and roundness, is followed by a persistent finish assured by the dense and silky tannic weft and a harmonious of the olfactory end-notes."
