About Wired for Wine

Wired for Wine was founded by Evans Gebhardt and Tanya Tuccillo back in 2009. After working and living all over the world—eating way too many wonderful foods and drinking copious amounts of delicious wine along the way—the pair ultimately returned to the United States, left their corporate jobs, and allowed their passion for wine to take hold. Over the past 10+ years, Evans and Tanya have dedicated their lives to creating a versatile and diverse wine platform, where all palate preferences and budgets are welcome. Not only did their wine assortment appeal broadly, they offered pairing suggestions and described their wines in such a way that allowed clients to make educated choices. In June of 2022, Evans and Tanya passed the torch of daily operations to the highly capable hands of Denise Barker, an East Coast-based sommelier and wine educator, though their behind-the-scenes presence is still very much alive.

About Denise Barker

Denise Barker began her wine journey back in 2007, after taking her first sommelier training course. Determined to learn as much about wine as possible, she moved to France to work across vineyards in the Loire Valley, while periodically taste-traveling through Europe along the way. Upon returning to the United States, Denise kicked off her wine career by working with major brands, including Chateau d’Esclans (Whispering Angel), Frescobaldi, Paul Jaboulet Ainé, Baron Philippe de Rothschild  and other major Grand Cru Bordeaux estates. She obtained her WSET Level 2 Sake Certified, WSET Advanced Level 3 Certified with distinction, and is currently working through the WSET Level 4 Diploma Program.

At Wired for Wine, Denise seeks to bring a fresh perspective to the online wine retail industry through making the process fun, educational, and non-intimidating. In addition to running daily operations at Wired for Wine, Denise is also a Master Instructor at the Sommelier Society of America in New York City. Her classes focus on her go-to viticultural regions and themes, which include (but are not limited to) the Loire Valley, Alsace, Bordeaux/ SW France, the Northern Rhône, northerly Itay and Advanced Tasting Techniques. Additionally, Denise’s passion for health and wellness led her to found ‘Meditasting: A Holistic and Intuitive Guide to Understanding Wine.’ She is an IIN Certified Health Coach and is inspired to bring important conversations around prioritizing health and wellness to the alcohol industry.
