From the Piedmont region of Italy, our gift to you is the Accornero Barbera del Monferrato Giulin, made by the fourth generation of the Accornero family. Founded in the late 1800's by Bartolomeo Accornero, the winery has been honing its craft for over a century, and produces this great value and deliciously food friendly red. It's the whole package, winelovers. Dark red fruit, earthy elements, some spice, and the magical combination of freshness and density. Channel your inner Italian and offer up classic tomato bruschettas with your first glasses. The beautiful fruit in this Giulin will take center stage with a piping hot platter of chicken braised with red and yellow peppers. A tasty alternative is orecchiette bolognaise with chestnuts. Essere ancora il mio cuore! And, because Barbera has a particular infinity for garlic, our last suggestion is lentils with garlicky pork sausage. You might have to drink it a few nights in a row so you can try them all! Avanti. Mangiamo!

    Antonio Galloni's Vinous:
"Black cherry, smoke, mocha, lavender, licorice, menthol and dark spices are some of the scents that emerge from Accornero's 2013 Barbera del Monferrato Giulin. This is another wine that boasts notable depth and resonance yet does so while maintaining remarkable balance. This extroverted Barbera should drink well for at least a handful of years (2015-2023)." Dec 2015

Winery: "Colour: ruby red tinged with violet. Aroma: rich, very well structured with spicy hints. Taste: warm, elegant, harmonious, of distinctive character and body. Goes well with roasted and mixed braised meats, game and hard cheeses."

Trade Notes: "Sweet red cherry fruit, a little tomato spice, endlessly succulent and delicious, with a bold finish for the 2013 vintage!"
