Ca'Marcanda Magari 2016
Robert Parker, Jr's Wine Advocate: "The 60/30/10 blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot in the 2016 Bolgheri Rosso Magari produces an expressive and opulent red wine, with great acidity and definition. The wine is firm and tightly wound, with secondary complexity that expresses itself in terms of tar, leather and spice. The tannins are supple and soft." May 2019
Winery: "Magari means if only it were true!, an expression used often in Italian to express desire, hope, and a vision of a bright future. The vineyard blocks that make up this blend are further away from the nearby sea, closer to the fertile hillside. The loamy, clay-rich soils here are known as terre brune meaning dark brown earth, ideal for the cultivation of wines with richness, depth and minerality. 2017 is a vintage of low quantity and all overall concentration of fruit, structure and acidity.
The nose is rich and complex with appealing notes of carob and tamarind.
The palate is vibrant with notes of grapefruit, red orange and Mediterranean botanical herbs. Extremely juicy with fine-grained, silky tannins with a long-lasting, sapid finish."
