Chappellet
Chappellet Napa Valley Cabernet Franc 2018
96/100 Points, Jeb Dunnuck
We love a review that starts with "a smoking value", like the one for this Chappellet Napa Valley Cabernet Franc. We've fallen in love with each of the Cabernet Sauvignons that we've had from Chappellet and the same can be said for their Cabernet Franc. Its got lovely versatility, buckets of personality and will pair beautifully with a prosciutto and sage-wrapped pork roast or smoky bbq ribs. It will dress up spaghetti and meatballs night like nothing else... Don't miss out winelovers!
Jeb Dunnuck: "A smoking value, the 2018 Cabernet Franc has textbook Cabernet Franc darker, almost blue fruits as well as gorgeous floral, leather, spice, and incense aromatics. Medium to full-bodied, it has a similar supple elegance that conceals solid underlying tannins and concentration. It can be drunk today with plenty of pleasure, yet a good 3-4 years of bottle age will do it well, and it should evolve gracefully over the following 10-15 years. Drink 2024-2040." Jan 2021
Winery: "Striking an impeccable balance between concentration and elegance, this rich and complex Cabernet Franc showcases how beautifully this grape expresses itself when grown on high-mountain slopes. The nose offers gorgeous aromas of red currant, black cherry, smokey tea, thyme and graphite, with hints of vanilla and clove from aging in French oak. On the plush, mouthcoating palate, silky tannins and a saturated texture frame the generous ripe berry flavors, with notes of earthy richness, sage and roasted coffee lingering throughout a long voluptuous finish."
